How the index is built
Every count on this site comes from our own index of Shopify stores. Here is where the stores come from, what we read on each one and what the numbers mean.
Finding the stores
We start from public lists of websites: the most visited sites of 42 countries and worldwide in Google's Chrome UX Report, the Tranco top-1M list and the domains in Common Crawl's web graph. Each domain is checked by DNS for Shopify's storefront addresses, then by the store's own public store data (name, address country and city, currency, product count). Domains that turn out not to be Shopify, closed stores and password-protected stores are left out, and each store appears once.
Counts and freshness
The index has about 780K stores (exactly 783,513 in the build of October 26, 2026). It is rebuilt monthly, and a build is published only after a check that no country lost or gained an implausible share of stores. Country pages count stores by the country of the store's own address. Stores behind custom (headless) storefronts are not in the index.
Apps and themes
We read each storefront and look for the scripts and markers of about 83 apps from a fixed fingerprint list, plus the theme name. "Uses Klaviyo" means Klaviyo's code was on the storefront when we read it. 766,351 stores have a read from the last 120 days; the app and theme counts on this site come from those reads (last updated October 29, 2026). Catalogues are counted up to 25,000 products, so bigger stores show as "25,000+".
Ranking
Lists are sorted by real visits: the store's Chrome UX Report popularity bucket first (for example "Top 5k in US"), then its Tranco rank.
Free CSV samples
Each app, country, niche and theme page has a CSV of 25 sample stores. All samples come from one fixed pool of 3,000 stores ranked between 50,000 and 150,000 by traffic, stores that publish contacts first; the top 50K stores are never in a free sample, though the full run includes them. Samples hold public storefront facts only: domain, name, location, currency, product count, theme, apps, a yes/no flag for a published e-mail and the popularity rank. They contain no e-mails, phone numbers or names of people.
The full list
The full lists come from Shopify Store Leads on Apify. It reads each store live when you run it, so apps and themes reflect the store today, and it adds the e-mails, phone numbers, address and social profiles a store publishes on its own site. Stores that can't be read are not billed.
